Rahul Gandhi’s tragic disconnect with reality

Scene 1: Sunday January 20th, Jaipur, Congress Chintan Shivir

“Ek taraf hum desh mein shanti banane ki koshish kar rahe hai, minorities per jo har waqt injustices hote hai woh bhi dekha jaaraha hai… lekin abhi beechmein humare paas yeh report aagaya hai, investigation mein, ke Bharatiya Janata Party ho, ya RSS ke ho, unke jo training camps hai, woh Hindu terrorsim badhane ka kaam dekh rahe hai”

[On the one hand we (Congress led-UPA Government at the Centre) are trying to maintain peace in the country, we are also looking into matters of injustice towards minority communities that occur all the time. But now, meanwhile, we have received reports through investigations that both BJP (India’s main Opposition party) and RSS (world’s largest voluntary organisation) are running training camps aimed at increasing Hindu terrorism (sic)… ] — India’s Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, addressing some 1,200 odd Congress party delegates in Jaipur.

This speech was beamed live to the world by assorted news channels present in Jaipur. The Indian Home Minister had just accused India’s democratic opposition party of being a terrorist outfit. By one stroke of genius, the Indian security establishment had told the world at large that Islamic terrorism was probably just a mirage and that the world should be more worried about Hindus who are committing all the terror activities on Indian soil (and probably elsewhere).

Let us try and understand the gravity of the situation. Imagine, if Theresa May, the British Home Secretary were to announce that the Labour Party was running terror camps and it was a terrorist organisation. Or, try and imagine if Thomas E Donilon, National Security Advisor to US President Barack Obama, were to announce to the world that the Republican Party was a terrorist organisation. There would be absolute outrage across the world. Such accusations without substantial proof would be considered an affront to the very basic principles of democracy.

What happened after the Indian Home Minister’s outrageous assertions? The world at large hardly took notice, except for Pakistan, which was jumping with joy. In India there were some murmurs about ‘the choice of words’ employed by the HM, but aside from that the editorial class and the intellectual brigade actually tended to agree that BJP was a terror outfit! The next day, the Congress actually reasserted that both BJP and RSS were Hindu terrorist organisations.

What does this tell us? It tells us how lax we are about our security, how the world will never again take us seriously and how all the human suffering due to genuine Islamist terrorism for so many decades now stands whitewashed. The next time there is a 26/11 type attack on Indian soil, the world will not listen to our protestations about cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistan and would instead tell us to arrest BJP/RSS activists!

Yes, Hafiz Saeed congratulated the Indian Home Minister! His stand, that he was innocent all along and it was RSS/BJP who were responsible for all the terrorism on Indian soil stands vindicated today by the OFFICIAL position of the Indian Government.

Scene 2: Monday January 21, Prayag, on the banks of Sangam

A congregation of some 3000 odd Sadhus has reached the banks of Sangam very early in the morning for the holy dip. In this group are Sadhus belonging to Shirshasanis, who even sleep in a standing position by resting their heads on a vertical pole. While meditating, they stand on their heads. This is a very unique path to Nirvana and it has been practised for many centuries now. As per their belief, they can never let their entire vertical bodies to touch mother Earth. But this year they are facing a great difficulty in the Kumbh Mela.

As the Sadhus enter the Sangam, they find themselves standing in less than knee-deep water. It is customary to take a full-body dip in the water to complete the shahi snan. It is very difficult to take a full dip in these low water levels even in a squatting position. Therefore, many a times these days, the sadhus lie down on the riverbed to complete the parikrama, which goes against the ethos of Shirshasanis. The water in Sangam is also quite dirty and does not flow as freely as it did in the past — it is mostly stagnant water.

Uttar Pradesh Government is only releasing 2,500 cusecs of water into the Sangam during the festival. Tirth Maryada Rakhsa Samiti (TMRS) has been agitating for many days now against this decision of the UP Government. TMRS is agitating not only in Allahabad and Lucknow but also in Haridwar, requesting the Governments of UP and Uttarakhand to release more water into the Ganga for the Kumbh Mela. Members of TMRS have requested audience with the Chief Secretary of UP, Javed Usmani, but he has refused to meet them.

This year in Prayag, more than 100 million people are expected to take a holy dip in the Sangam. How will a paltry 2,500 cusecs be able to meet the demands of such a mass of humanity? Is the demand for more water by Hindu pilgrims an unjust one? It is not as if the Maha Kumbh is an annual event like a Haj (which, by the way, still gets Government subsidies), it is not even a quadrennial event like an Olympic or a Cricket World Cup. A Maha Kumbh is the largest human gathering in the world that only occurs once in 12 years.

Scene 3: January 18, Additional District and Sessions Court, Deeg, Bharatpur (about 100 miles from Congress Chintan Shivir):

Ashok Kumar Jain, the additional District and Sessions Court judge of Deeg, Bharatpur, declares Jalis Khan, the chief of Bharatpur’s Kaman Panchayat Samiti, as an absconder in the much publicised abduction and gang rape case of 2010. Khan happens to be the husband of Congress MLA Zahida Khan, who, as luck would have it, is also the general secretary of All India Mahila Congress, the apex body of female congress members in India.

This court decision ought to have been an important news item for an India that is still reeling under the impact of the Delhi gang rape and brutal murder of a 23-year-old woman. News media in India has been relentlessly highlighting, for many days non-stop, rape cases and societal reactions to rapes. Everybody from the Sarsanghchalak of RSS, Mohan Bhagwat, to spiritual guru Asaram Bapu has been targeted by the media for their insensitivity. In such a scenario, this gang rape by the husband of Congress party’s women’s wing’s general secretary could potentially be the biggest breaking news in 24/7 India.

To make matters even more convenient, there was a Congress Chintan Shivir (brainstorming session) happening just some 100 miles away from Bharatpur, the scene of the crime and the court judgement. A large posse of media personalities, journalists, news editors, reporters, cameramen and news anchors are all camped nearby in order to cover the Congress brainstorming session and report the news back to India. All these media personalities might very well have started salivating at this news of a gang rape verdict in a court just 100 miles from where they are currently located. This could produce compelling news packages and also get great TRPs. It could also potentially overshadow the Congress Chintan Shivir.

Over the next 5 days — including the 3 days of Congress Chintan Shivir — till today, there has been not a single mention on the gang rape case of Bharatpur in the media. Not one panel discussion, not one ‘nation-wants-answers’ debate, not one high-moral lecture by news anchors, not one editorial page outrage about a political rape and not even a single condemnation tweet. There is almost total secular silence on the entire matter, as if all of this had happened somewhere in Siberia. The same media which was outraging against mere statements, terming them insensitive, has maintained total silence on this actual act of debauchery!

In these 5 days, the braveheart of Delhi died all over again, each time with the same pain, the same agony and with the same questioning eyes asking: “Why this deathly silence?”

India unwired and disconnected

Sunday is a day when most news anchors in India are generally on a holiday (a rule that was not broken even after Delhi went berserk last month after the gang rape). It was on this day that Rahul Gandhi made his speech to the gathering at the Chintan Shivir. Every news anchor and journalist worth his salt cancelled their Sunday holiday and had hours of TV discussions/debates about the ‘momentous speech’ by the young prince.

Every nuance was appreciated, every teardrop was analysed. One could possibly even hear a sigh from certain news anchors. It was hailed as ‘India’s Obama moment’. Later, unconfirmed reports suggested that many journalists were actually crying when Rahul delivered his speech.

Lutyens’ Dilli, which did not shed a tear for all those homeless people dying in the Delhi winter, nor for the rape victim of Jalis Khan, was in tears listening to the dynastic sob story of power politics. This is the disconnect that India has been cursed with by an overarching secularist construct.

A molested policewoman writes an angst-ridden poem and there is condemnation across the nation for it might ‘hurt the sentiments’ of the rioters of Azad maidan. Two Armymen are killed and their bodies are mutilated by India’s mortal enemy and Indian journalists justify it by accusing our own Army of engaging in even worse behaviour. Our Home Minister proclaims to the world that Hindus are terrorists and that Muslims and minorities are suffering gross injustices in India. One must seriously wonder which India these media persons and Congress leaders are talking about. The one that we all live in?

Meanwhile, at the Sangam, the sadhus and pilgrims are still struggling to take a holy dip in knee-deep water in the cold winter mornings. if faith can move mountains, then it can possibly alter India’s Karmic cycle as well.

Tailpiece

“My father was a brave man,” says Rahul Gandhi with feeling, “The hospital was dark, it was green and very dirty… as we entered, people were shouting, they were very angry. It was the first time in my life that I saw my father cry,” avers the young scion of India to his audience, explaining the scene of his grandmother’s death. Rahul then goes on to describe how his father (the then Prime Minister elect) went on to address the nation on TV/Radio despite his emotional loss. He is trying to educate congressmen about ‘hope’, using his own personal tragedy as an analogy.

Just a few hundred metres away from the scene that Rahul Gandhi so evocatively describes (as a dirty green hospital), men and women were being butchered in broad daylight. Hundreds of young Sikh boys were witnessing the beheading of their fathers and the gang raping of their mothers. Their India was as disconnected then, as it is now. In those dark days when India lost all its hope, Rahul Gandhi discovered hope. That hope, built on the dead bodies of thousands of Sikhs, has come back to haunt India in 2013

The myth of ‘Hindutva terror’

PLEASE PLEASE go thru this very excellent article…and do share and tag ur friends in this one. We never ask you to do so…but please surely spread this one,as much as possible..Hindus should unite against these evil ‘Khangressi’…Take pride in Being a Hindu and stand united!

India is home to nearly 18 per cent of the world’s population. That’s a huge chunk of humanity in one country. Of this, nearly 82 per cent are Hindus. So naturally, it is a nation with a Hindu identity, irrespective of whether people with more “secular” outlook accept it or not. If Turkey can be called a Muslim nation and Germany a Christian nation, India is for sure a Hindu nation that functions in the form of a democracy.

Background:

Unfortunately India is one of the biggest victims of terrorism in the 21st century world. Interestingly, it has become very fashionable over the past 4 to 6 years to flash Hindutva “terror” or Saffron “terror” at the drop of a hat. Hindutva, is essentially an ideology which is pro-Hindu, and Saffron is a colour most associated with Sanatana Dharma, or Hinduism as the world labels it. Many people bring “Hindu terror”, “Hindutva terror” or “Saffron terror” into political and media discussions to score brownie points with the generally Hindu-despising crowd out there — the so-called secular people, communists, and some ‘friendly neighbours’ of who have a big stake in projecting Hindus in bad light.

Since Islamic terror or Muslim terror has been so much in news this century, some people felt obligated to bring in an “equal-equal” balancing act to emphasise their own secular credentials. Of course it would be stupid to say that there are no bad people who are Hindus. They exist. There are criminals, rapists, murderers and much worse people who happen to be from practicing Hindu family or just have a Hindu name. But ‘Hindutva terror’ or ‘Hindu terror’ is mostly meaningless as hardly any Hindu would go out and commit terrorism for the glory of the Bhagavad Gita or for attaining heaven for the sake of Krishna or Durga, or cite a Vedic mantra before blowing up a group of people. Hindu criminals surely exist, but Hindu ‘terror’(of the Islamist variety) is mostly imaginary. I have never come across an act of Hindutva ‘terror’ that killed even 100 people (that’s 0.8 per cent of the number of global terror victims in 2011) anywhere in the world in one incident. You can leave a comment below to educate us if you find this claim false.

Now let’s go beyond our opinions and claims. Let’s get some hard statistics from credible reports. Beyond the studios of some select media houses, does Hindutva ‘terror’, so fondly peddled by our neo-intellectuals, even exist? If it exists among 15-18 per cent of the world’s population, shouldn’t it be a very visible form of terror in international reports and news items? That too when India itself features among the 6 most terror-affected countries in the global ranking?

I found one very credible and internationally accepted report on the previous year’s terrorism statistics. I was actually hoping to see a lot of ‘Hindutva terror’-related information from this comprehensive world report on terrorism in 2011. To my shock, there was not even a single mention of ‘Hindu’, ‘RSS’, ‘Sangh’, ‘Saffron’ and other labels that Indian media regularly feeds us. There were 16 mentions of India in this 33-page comprehensive report, but not ONE mention of the word ‘Hindu’! I checked and rechecked, just to ensure that I was not missing something.

How did this happen?

How come the world’s most comprehensive report on terrorism from 2011 does not have a mention of  even one terror incident involving ‘Hindutva’ or ‘Hindu’ which many politicians and mediapersons don’t seem to stop talking about in India?

2011 Global Terror Statistics:

You can download and read the entire report here from the official National Counter Terrorism Center website in USA. (Click here to download the PDF report)

After failing to find any mention of ‘Hindutva’ terror, I then extracted some key numbers that I hope Indian media stalwarts will read through and get a larger, global perspective. There were over 10,000 terrorist attacks in 2011, affecting nearly 45,000 victims in 70 countries and resulting in over 12,500 deaths. That’s a very large number of people getting affected, even though the number of attacks were fewer compared to 2007.

India features among the six countries most affected by terrorism in 2011. In Afghanistan, 3,353 people died due to terror attacks in 2011. Iraq saw 3,063 deaths, Pakistan saw 2,033, Somalia saw 1,101, Nigeria saw 593 and India saw 479 victims. These are purely terrorism-related deaths, and do not include deaths in religious / sectarian wars like in Syria where more than 20,000 people have died in 2011 itself. The war-torn Afghanistan, the unstable Iraq, and the very likely imploding Pakistan together account for 64 per cent of the terrorist attacks in the world during 2011. India’s most volatile neighbour Pakistan, with a long history exporting terrorism, saw an increase of 8 per cent in terror attacks compared to 2010.

Now let us come to religious demographics. I am not sure this even deserves mention, but something needs to stand in contrast to all the ‘Hindutva’ bashing in Indian media.:

1.      In 2011, 56 per cent of the world’s terrorist attacks (5,700) were by Sunni Muslims. 70 per cent of the worldwide deaths were also OF Sunni Muslims.

2.      Effectively, out of the 12,533 terror victims in the world in 2011, 8,886 were killed by Sunni Muslim extremists.

3.      There were 279 suicide attacks in the world during 2011. Sunni Muslims conducted 93 per cent of these attacks.

4.      Out of 12,000+ killed by terrorists in 2011, 6,418 were civilians. 755 were children. Nearly 90 per cent of terror victims, with their religion identified, were Muslims.

Amazing! What will the ‘secular’ columnists, who made a living bashing ‘Hindutva terror’ do now? Not ONE mention in the world’s most comprehensive report of Hindu ‘terror’. Not to mention the fact that an overwhelming majority of terrorists listed happen to be Muslims, whom these folks hesitate to highlight, thanks to their ‘equal-equal’ reporting mission. Is it time for them to get back to their ‘terrorism has no religion’ cliche?

2011 Indian Terror Groups per the Global Report:

Since India unfortunately figured in this list, it was necessary to dig deep into incidents involving the country, to find out who in India was killing that many people. According to the report, the top non-Muslim terrorist groups in the world were FARC from Columbia (carried out 377 attacks in 2011), CPI-Maoist in India (351 attacks), NPA-CPP of Philippines that struck 102 times and PKK of Turkey (carried out 48 attacks).

Here were the only 3 Indian terror organisations featured:

1.      Communist ideology holding Communist Party of India – Maoist.

2.      Indian Mujahideen, the terror outfit that is alleged to have links with Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), for which the incumbent Foreign Minister of India Salman Khurshid was a legal voice.

3.      Harkat ul-Jihad Islami (HUJI).

Inference:

The summary of the report is pretty clear. It’s unfortunate for India that it did figure as the sixth most terror-affected nation on this planet. However, even though Hindus form 15 to 18 per cent of the world’s population across dozens of countries, with an overwhelming majority in India, they had zero mention in the comprehensive world terror report for 2011. Not only was there no mention of the word ‘Hindu’ itself, all other related labels like ‘Hindutva’, ‘RSS’ etc. were absent as well. Among the three Indian terrorist outfits featured in the global report, two were Islamist and one was Communist. Ironically, it is the advocates of these very same ideologies that have been trying desperately to project to the world the imaginary idea of ‘Hindutva terror’ and the huge danger it poses to humanity.

I hope India’s top politicians, their speechwriters and media editors read this report carefully. Perhaps they would do better by getting back to the ‘terrorism has no religion’ cliche instead of discrediting themselves by peddling the non-existent ‘Hindutva Terror’.

WHO made this dumb ‘shit’de home minister?eh?cheap vote bank minority appeasement politics? SHAME ON YOU!! ******e
Be mum on real terrorism and start talking about imaginary ones!

JAI HIND…JAI SHREE RAM!

Brillianr article on How Media Twisted and turned the Bhagwatj’s statement…#Share Let everyone else know about it!!I dont know the gentleman who wrote it…but Kudos to him!

My dictum that the Indian English media is a whore with none of the ethics of a whore has been proven correct again. And so the latest proof of its venal whoredom happens to be a barefaced lie, a shameless hoax, which in the pre-Internet era would’ve gone unnoticed. Perchance that it was noticed, its exposure would’ve been buried by everybody starting with the gatekeepers all the way up to the CEO of the brothel. And this piece would’ve never been written.

That the media crossed all limits was proved by Radiagate. But when you abandon shame just once, you only want to better your previous record. I suppose it’s like drug addiction but I really don’t know. You need to ask Barkha Dutt, et al. The latest entrant into this Media Hall of Shame happens to be Asian News International (ANI), whose doctored and heavily editorialized reportage of RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat’s speech at Indore on 6 January 2013 was portrayed as the actual view of the Sarasanghachalak. In other words: lying.

Of course, predictable consequences followed. The English media spontaneously erupted in simultaneous multiple orgasms nationwide. Here’s a sample from the uber spinmeister NDTV, which spun an already-twisted report (by ANI) as follows:
‘Women meant to do household chores’: another shocker from RSS chief…right-wing Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has done it again…

But what did Mohan Bhagwat actually say? Thanks to Newslaundry for the loose translation (the original Hindi transcript is here):

[Mohan Bhagwat] was commenting on the Western model of modernity. And in that context, he was articulating his view of their view. Get it? He said in the “modern” interpretation of marriage (not his), women are bound by contract to serve their husbands. He also said that husbands were bound to look after their wives. Much like women are supposed to look after household chores and keep their husbands satisfied, men are expected to provide for their wives and look after them, as per the modern version of the marriage contract. And if either the wife or husband didn’t manage to do so, the dissatisfied party breaks the contract and contracts a second or third, as per the modern version of the marriage contract. Get it?

Notice how it was reported. And how quickly it went viral in the media. Notice also how RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav’s defence of Mohan Bhagwat was carefully buried under layers of paragraphs by these news-twisters. Typical. Spit and run journalism thrives on this to survive. Moreover, since the RSS chief is himself directly involved, it’s the Golden Chance for journalists and reporters to inject more poison into the already toxic reporting.

However, what they didn’t bargain for is the avalanche of outrage that steamrolled against them on Twitter and elsewhere online. For once, these RSS-blood-baying news hounds were forced to lick their wounds. Even the normally giggly, dumb high-school girl like Old Monk Boy’s wife was forced to apologize.

That the English media vampires hate the RSS because of their Maculayite background is just a partial explanation. The truthful explanation is the fact that they are people with no integrity. You present them with mountains of evidence to the contrary, yet they chose to willfully ignore it. Their hatred of the RSS is not irrational. It is depraved. And like all hatred, it is rooted in fear.

The depravity begins with how they have historically characterized the RSS, again, taking a leaf out of Nehru’s book. The fact that the media has consistently ignored the exemplary social work that RSS has done since its inception is a measure of the media’s intentionally blinkered vision. It’s as if the RSS exists only to foment violence and make the ultra-pampered minorities shiver in their shoes. It’s as if the RSS is just waiting for tomorrow to declare India as a dreaded Hindu Rashtra complete with doomsday visions of unchecked tyranny and violent repression. But this kind of branding has indeed served the media well. The mention of RSS evokes derisive ridicule and laughter in large pockets of urban India today. And this ridicule isn’t based even on a cursory study of the RSS’ stellar contribution throughout its existence. The naked lie accepted as gospel truth, is actually handed down second hand by third-rate writers with a spurious agenda to push.
Yet, what is the actual record of the RSS?

Name a natural calamity. Floods, earthquakes, tsunamis…RSS workers reach the affected spot first and dive right in to help the victims. They care nothing for their own comfort, eating little and sleeping even less. They ask nothing in return unlike the Christian missionary vultures whose ugly soul-trading was on full display during the 2004 Tsunami that hit India. Yet what does the media report? Nothing. They simply bury the story of the work done by the RSS. What does that show? That the media is aware of the good work but chooses only to report some statements made by the RSS that are perceived to be regressive or inflammatory. If this doesn’t show a lack of integrity, what else does?

But perhaps the greatest strength of the RSS is its staggering number of voluntary workers or karyakartas. These are people who give up everything in life to serve the nation. They go where the RSS orders them to go and undertake any task, however arduous. And thousands of these karyakartas are qualified, intelligent and competent enough to earn six figure salaries had they not opted to serve India. Yet they go out to remote locations, to places where people desperately need help or to serve the nation in numerous other ways. They train and educate other people’s children by willingly forgoing the opportunity to start their own families. They put even their lives at risk in places like the violently Stalinist Kannur, Kerala. Indeed, I’ve even stopped reading news that reports the death of yet another Swayamsevak in that morbid State. Yet they are undeterred, and tirelessly lead such a near-ascetic life of national service propelled by the only hope that their efforts will bear fruit some day in the form of an India that had once led the world in high culture, refinement, arts, philosophy, and material riches.

It is this commitment that has earned it the goodwill and a firm place in the hearts of millions of Hindus (and thousands of non-Hindus) worldwide. A goodwill that has sustained and remained in tact over seven decades and continues to grow. It is this goodwill that unleashed the torrent of rage on social media yesterday against ANI and likeminded media charlatans. It is this goodwill that has made the RSS the largest network of its kind in the world. Name just one other voluntary organization in the world which has this awe-inspiring network of people dedicated only to serve a nation. Just one. What’s more, the kind of harassment meted out by the Dynasty to RSS at regular intervals, the kind of atrocities perpetrated against RSS workers by various Congress and Communist Governments would have broken the back of a lesser organization. The Emergency was truly the darkest period in the life of the RSS. An organization with even 1/10th of the RSS in terms of size, network, and influence in any other country would’ve reacted very differently. Yet how did the RSS respond? Its then Sarasanghachalak instructed the karyakartas to forgive Indira Gandhi and the Congress party because “after all, they are one of our own. They are fellow Indians.”
And yet, what kind of sick minds find humour in vulgar descriptions of the effects of wearing “khaki shorts? The same Newslaundry that chided ANI & co for motivated reportage of Mohan Bhagwat’s speech also says this:

Bhagwat – whose main sin appears to be that he wears khaki bermudas despite the effect the vision might have on unsuspecting viewers

How would the reporter feel if I wrote something similar about the panties his/her mother or sister wear? Would he/she write the same thing about his father’s bermudas or whatever other shorts? Oh! I’ll write that in all good humour, of course. But knowing this breed, they’d say “ah! I knew you’d say this kind of stuff about my mother and sister.” This kind of response is the direct outcome of shamelessness becoming the norm. But I digress.

But yet, what kind of moral and mental pollution prompts the media sleazebags to depict nuns and fathers and brothers as saints—the actual parasites on the ground who prey on unsuspecting non-Christian souls and lead to civil wars—while they portray the genuine and selfless workers who serve the nation as dreaded goons?
One answer to all these questions is just one word: fear. The media fears the RSS. Here’s a vast organization made entirely of voluntary workers intent only on serving the country that has stood its ground amidst severe adversities and which takes the most strident criticism in its stride. Here’s an organization which has sustained for more than seven decades and despite best efforts, hasn’t budged or accepted defeat much less been broken. Courts have consistently taken its side. Every effort to tarnish its reputation has failed. All these are eminently plausible reasons for someone to fear its moral strength.

But look at the record of the lives, behaviour and character of the selfsame media men and women who’ve demonized RSS both through force and fraud. There’s nothing but filth there. From putting out doctored news reports, from making crass accusations, from indulging in vulgar jokes, there’s no depths of depravity the media has plumbed where the RSS is concerned. Even if we overlook this, what’s the kind of ethics and professionalism the media has displayed? Radiagate? Openly campaigning for the Congress party? Land grabbing? Paid news? Killing stories? Calling for the “sudden removal” of Narendra Modi?  What is the wager that these guys can’t lead the lifestyle of Mohan Bhagwat for even half a day? And yet they occupy some kind of a self-righteous moral high ground and criticize the RSS and Bhagwat. What world do they live in? More importantly, what bizarre nightmare are we living in, to tolerate this all-round sickness?

Everybody has the right to criticize the RSS but such criticism must be rooted in truth, honesty, and a thorough knowledge of what it stands for. But then we have a media that’s incurably allergic to such concepts. Whatever be the ideological or intellectual failures of the RSS, they are patriots of the highest order and their record of national service is both unparalleled and unbeatable anywhere in the world. And I say this as an outsider.
No wonder the media is full of people like the likes of Old Monk Boy who can’t sleep without alcohol.

Rajdeep, CNN-IBN Join Gujarat Election Campaign

Lying is considered a moral offence. Sometimes a lie is even considered healthy if it saves someone or contributes to a good cause; which is why if you look up all our laws there isn’t one against lying. It’s an offence to lie only under oath in a hearing. This is the greatest protection under which our news media thrives and makes its living. As Howard Beale would tell you: “TV is not the truth, it’s an amusement park….We lie like hell”. In an earlier post I mentioned Vikram Chandra of NDTV lamenting the degeneration of news. Following the arrest of ZeeNews editors in an extortion case we had more soul-searching in the media. Who else but Rajdeep Sardesai could have tweeted: “I guess journalists are more feared today, but sadly less respected. We are more arrogant, less ethical. Gnight”. (Nov 28) More feared? Nobody fears or respects journalists anymore, that’s the reason Jindal group screwed the morons from Zee. Rajdeep’s channel also has the brand name IBNLive but he might remember that it often earns the nickname CNN-IBNLies. So on Nov 28 RS once again does a show “Is the media facing a serious credibility crisis”?

Any introspection has to begin with the What and Why media got to where it is. You will find nothing of that sort in RS’s show. Among the panellists were N. Ram, Shekhar Gupta and Vinod Mehta. These three gentlemen have quite a lot answering to do on their own. Who is introspecting? Gupta says editors and editorial intervention should be restored and that on TV the anchors and editors are rolled into one. Sort of judge, jury, and prosecutor all rolled into one. Gupta probably refuses to accept that there are no more editors. There are only “Editorialists” whose job is to “swing” public opinion for political pursuits. And it’s even more rewarding when it comes to Gujarat and elections in Gujarat. Over a decade our news channels have distributed some of the biggest lies about the state and about Narendra Modi. They have been exposed again and again but never learn. So, all the introspection that RS frequently attempts is poor theatre at best. Consider this ruling by an American court with respect to Fox News who appealed a verdict against them:

“In February 2003, a Florida Court of Appeals unanimously agreed with an assertion by FOX News that there is no rule against distorting or falsifying the news in the United States… During their appeal, FOX asserted that there are no written rules against distorting news in the media. They argued that, under the First Amendment, broadcasters have the right to lie or deliberately distort news reports on public airwaves”. There! You see, that applies to Indian media too. The Fox case was actually against reporters hired by them and not enemies. Lying, falsifying reports, distortion are not crimes. This gets even better when it comes to Gujarat. So, in keeping with the tradition of the last decade CNN-IBN first sends out the Social Genius, to Gujarat on a mission to find out the condition of Muslims in the state. Then on November 29 RS runs a show on why Muslims are being ignored by BJP in the state. CNN-IBN has well and truly joined the election campaign.

Throughout her journey in Gujarat Sagarika let out some very Bimboesque tweets which have so come to represent her mind and her thinking. And such a moron is going to pass off her petty opinions as a great work of research. That’s CNN-IBN for you. Those opinions aren’t aired yet. They are going to be aired today afternoon and are quite predictable. And what exactly is Rajdeep’s problem? That the BJP hasn’t given a ticket to any Muslim candidate although they form 9 or 10% of Gujarat’s population! Yes, he is that naïve. He, being Numero Uno in political analysis, doesn’t understand the basis of selecting candidates and feels ticket distribution should be on the basis of population. That Hindus can’t represent Muslims as they do in many other constituencies in India or vice-versa. That only Muslims can represent themselves and no one else. It’s because of channels like Rajdeep’s that there is an entire site dedicated to media lies. Don’t laugh, it’s really called TVNewsLies and here are excerpts from their deception statement:

“Today’s establishment media practice very little journalism and they devote minimal resources to reporting actual news… They spend most of their resources to create a false reality for the public while they distract you from the most important issues facing our world. For all practical purposes you can safely say that the reality portrayed by the establishment media bears little resemblance to the actual world in which we live… An easy way to think of this is that the people in the establishment media are holding up an orange for you to look at while they tell you that it is an apple…. Lies come in many forms. Partial truths, selective facts, out of context quotes and information, partial historical perspective and out right misrepresentation of facts. It is easy to manipulate the public. If you become aware of the methods of deception you are better prepared to sift through the propaganda for the few facts that are actually made available by our broadcast our news media”.

RS seems to have little problem with the massive appeasement policies of various govts including the GOI towards the Muslims. He has problems only when Muslims in Gujarat aren’t given tickets for the election by the BJP. It never bothered him that all the MPs from Delhi are Hindus voted by Muslims too from a party that indulges in Muslim-appeasement. Election tickets are a political issue. Tickets are issued also based on political manoeuvres of the opponents. The most condemned politics in recent times, even in the media, has been the politics of caste and religion. Rajdeep seems to still live in an era of Madhavsinh Solanki’s KHAM theory in Gujarat. The theory that made Gujarat voters dump the Congress. But fairness to the population or fair representation is hardly Rajdeep’s motive. The simple motive is to trash BJP and Narendra Modi any way he can; which is what he has been doing the last ten years. He either wants apologies from Modi or portray Muslims as being discriminated against in Gujarat. This, at a time when even Muslims are beginning to acknowledge they have suffered more at the hands of other parties.

During the HT Summit in 2007 Rajdeep asked probably the dumbest question a host could ask. He asked Modi if Gujarat’s development reaches its entire people or only the Hindu majority. Modi responded by asking if water flows in the Sabarmati does it cater only to 90% or to all the 100% whose lives depend on that water. Rajdeep also used that occasion to reiterate the “Mass murderer” tag for Modi. He also used the term “Hero of hatred” to describe Modi. With all this animosity and hatred within him, on what grounds does Rajdeep even consider himself morally fit to question any decision of Modi? But hell, its election season and he has to do his bit for the campaign against Modi. And Muslims have been such a phenomenal tool for the media just as they are for certain political parties.

And if that wasn’t enough there is Shweta Bhatt, wife of Sanjiv Bhatt, who will now contest on a Congress ticket against Narendra Modi in Ahmedabad. Excellent! Nothing wrong with that. She is the wife of the “Super cop”, the “top cop” and the “whistle-blower” so touted by the media. On Rajdeep’s very channel Sanjiv Bhatt called Modi a “common criminal”. So thrilled was CNN-IBN that they kept playing that sound-bite over and over again. The SIT on Gujarat riots rejected claims of Bhatt and yet the media kept backing him. The whole world suspected then that Sanjiv Bhatt was nothing more than a Congress stooge. Some of his affidavits were even reported to be drafted by a reporter from TOI, Manoj Mitta. But Rajdeep and his colleagues suspected nothing. Must be all those emails Bhatt was sending him. After all, he is Numero Uno when it comes to political analysis. And this guy talks about Muslims in Gujarat? Pathetic!

As far as I know, and I know with a certain authority too, that Muslims in Gujarat are much better off than in many other states in India. The few streets and gullys that CNN-IBN and other channels show in their reports are not unique to Muslims. These can be found in other communities too in Gujarat where the poor live. Poverty hasn’t disappeared from India and it hasn’t totally disappeared from Gujarat. But guess what, at every opportunity CNN-IBN will be there to rake up old wounds under the garb “Gujarat Muslims: A new narrative”. The title is as deceptive as it possibly can. The manner in which both Sagarika and Rajdeep have been screaming about Muslims are nearly attempts to divide a state on religious lines and sowing seeds of communal disharmony. It can also amount to provoking Muslims with fears where there are none. Is there nothing else about Gujarat other than Muslims? Should that be the only factor that should decide elections? Has Rajdeep ever asked why there has never been a Muslim Nobel winner from India? Surely, day isn’t far off when he blames Modi for that too.

Someone did give an answer to the Social Genius on her journey of malice. Asifa Khan, a Congress member who recently joined BJP, told her: “A foot soldier from BJP is doing much better than a Congress MLA or Congress MP would have done”. I don’t think Rajdeep is going to hunt for a deep explanation why Congress is held in such contempt in Gujarat. Truth might be that the conditions of Muslims in a Muslim-ruled J&K maybe far worse than Gujarat. I doubt CNN-IBN or the Social Genius is going to do a show on that. As for the moronery of the husband-wife duo what says it better than Akhilesh Yadav, whose six months in charge of UP have seen 9 communal riots being their Indian of the year nominee? A bunch of bigots whose hatred for Modi and prejudice against Hindus have often coloured the vision of CNN-IBN. This isn’t the first time.

And then Rajdeep wonders if media is facing a credibility crisis. The problem for him, as also many other media celebs, is that they haven’t been able to juggle their work of putting out the bare minimum news with facts and that of their political agenda. Rajdeep, Sagarika and CNN-IBN have just joined the election campaign in Gujarat. It’s your guess which team they are rooting for. Right behind them is Headlines Today too. It’s only begun. Few months ago when Rajdeep was being asked by Twitterati to report on the Emergency anniversary on June 25 he hit back with a question. He asked if the same Tweeple will remember Babri anniversary on December 6. He’s in luck! This time December 6 is just around the eve of Gujarat elections. Someone will be there to exploit it for added impact in Gujarat. Guess who??

10 shades of Indian secularism ::

Secularism is what we’re taught to be proud of, even at the cost of our traditional Hindu identity. The choice between cultural nationalism and constitutional secularism confuses a many. Let’s drive through the shades of Indian secularism.

1. Not to Ram and Krishna, yes to Mohammad and Jesus : In India, with 80% Hindu population, and the only homeland of Hindus in the world, the birthdays of great sons of the soil, Shri Ram and Shri Krishna, are not compulsory central government holidays, while the birthday of Saudi Arabia born prophet Mohammad and both the birth and crucification day of Bethlehem born Jesus, are compulsory holidays throughout India. This seems in sync with the secular hypothesis that Ram and Krishna are imaginary comic characters while Mohammad and Jesus are actual historical characters. There are only 2 Hindu holidays out of compulsory 14, in contrast with 4 Muslim ones.

2. Right to expropriate Hindu temples’ property: The Constitution of India enables the government to take control of Hindu temples and trusts and appoint its nominees in their controlling body and even control its funds. The government doesn’t have this privilege for the mosques or churches. The government cannot interfere in the functioning of the mosques, madarsas and any minority institutions even if they receive government aid, which is taxpayers’ money. The minority institutions are not bound to comply with the Right to Education act either. This can be seen as a lighter version of Pakistan and Bangladesh’s enemy property laws which enable their governments to confiscate the propeties of Hindus by declaring them enemy properties.

3. Secular India follows Sharia laws: Everyone knows that India doesn’t have uniform civil code. Indian muslim males are legally allowed to have up to 4 wives at a time, and can divorce them by saying ‘Talaaq’ thrice, in compliance with Sharia. Hindus and Christians have to follow proper court procedures to file for divorce. The women right activists who organise ‘slut-walks’ to celebrate their ‘rights’ and advocate girls visiting pubs, do not speak on this matter. Shah Bano case stands as a glaring example of how secularism is a constitutionally prescribed drug meant only for Hindus, not for minorities.

4. Celebrating the signs of slavery: Prayagraj, one of the holiest pilgrimages of Hindus, is called Allah-abad. Kashi, Ayodhya and Mathura, each of these 3 holy sites has been desecrated and yet not fully restored. The signboards of Auragzeb road in Delhi stand as the testimony to India’s slavery that Indian secularism celebrates so profusely. In 2007, over 1 lakh Indian muslims paid homage to Aurangzeb’s tomb on his 300th anniversary, that’s when Aurangzeb is known to be the perpetrator of the largest Hindu genocide ever. Aurangzeb had even got Guru Teg Bahadur beheaded in his court for his refusal to convert to Islam.

5. Erase the history, get Macaulaized: An instance of Indian secularism is the 1978 directive to NCERT which instructs it to erase all medieval history which paints a picture of clash between native Hindus and invading muslims in that era. Consequently, we have a chapter each from Akbar to Aurangzeb, but Shivaji and Maharana Pratap are squeezed into a paragraph each in history books. Despite all the evidence to the contrary, discredited Aryan Invasion Theory is still taught in Indian schools. The history books do not cover the Mahabharata despite a plethora of archaeological evidence available to conclusively establish its historicity.

6. Temples – to hell with them: The Archealogical Survey of India in its annual report of 1924-25 published a long list of Hindu temples demolished during Islamic rule. Sita Ram Goel, Arun Shourie and others have published a book after conducting research and they’ve given a 64 page long district-wise list of Islamic monuments which were constructed by demolishing Hindu temples. This list, in the book, “Hindu temples – what happened to them”, includes around 2000+ temples and gives in most cases, the year of construction of those structures also. Even in Kashmir, hundreds of temples, small and large have been desecrated over during the exodus of Hindus in early 90s. The same, however, is a non-issue in larger secular polity. It’s continued unabted in whichever time or space, Hindus have become weak.

7. Violating the sanctity of Ram and Geeta: From Ram Mandir to Ram Setu and to Bhagwad Geeta, all have been dragged into Indian courts. India is the only country in the world where the faith of 100 Crore people is humiliated. It’d be silly to look for parallels where in a Muslim majority country, Quran or the prophet, or in a Christian majority country, Bible or the Christ, could be dragged into a court of law. In India, the central government filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court suggesting that Ram never existed. In the same country, Christian missionaries openly preach about Hindus’ false and ‘characterless’ gods, and so do Islamic missionaries like Zakir Naik, but the tag of ‘hate-monger’ has been attributed to Hindu right wing by secular luminaries in media and otherwise.

8. Not if you’re a Hindu: There are numerous government schemes which are run exclusively for the benefit of minorities at the expense of taxpayer money, despite an apparent prohibition to the same in the constitution. Pashchim Banga government paying monthly stipend to all the Imams of all the mosques in the state is a glaring example of this. The same is not extended to Hindu pujaris. The Haj subsidy, against which the Supreme Court finally ordered, which had been running since Independence even when no other country, not even Pakistan offers it, is another example.

9. The piety of pseudo-secularism: The pious Human Right Activists, known for their love for Jihadi terrorists, those who have been running justicefor Afzalguru.org for years now, have not spoken for the inhumane treatment meted out to Sadhvi Pragya, and Swami Aseemanand. Their love for those displaced in Gujarat riots, their sympathy on crores of Bangladeshi infiltrators and their disgusting silence and aversion on lakhs of Kashmiri Hindu refugees and Pakistani Hindu refugees is another jewel of the muddled waters of Indian secularism.

10. The rise of secular fanaticism: The practice of Saraswati Vandana has been discontinued from almost all government events with the rise of secular fanaticism. The TV series Chanakya of 90’s was asked to remove Saffron flags from it, its being indispensable to the picturaization of Chanakya’s Akhand Bharat notwithstanding. Doordarshan’s ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’ had also been removed before being brought back. Off late, even the practice of lighting a lamp has been criticised as ‘unislamic’. A litigation was filed in Gujarat high court for inaugurating a room by breaking a coconut for its being a Hindu (not Secular). A case was lodged in Chennai High Court to prohibit the employees celebrating festivals in office space. The beast of secular fanaticism has gone wilder over the years, and if not us, posterity will have to bear the brunt of our callous ignorance.

The police on Friday came in for a shock when the namazis, after the prayers, did a quick ‘U’ turn and headed for the Bhagyalakshmi temple abutting the Charminar instead of proceeding towards Madina building as anticipated. This triggered a clash and resulted in a see-saw battle for the next one hour between the stone-pelting mobs and the police.

As the police started lobbing teargas shells the crowds retreated towards Madina. After clearing them, police focused on other namazis standing in front of the Charminar police station who refused to leave despite repeated warnings.

Meanwhile, the RAF team aimed teargas shells on the mobs gathered on the road leading to Kotla Alijah and then Chudi Bazar. In just 15 minutes, all the four roads were cleared of the protesters who retreated into the lanes and by-lanes and began damaging whatever came their way. Strewn with the agitators’ footwear and stones showered by them, the otherwise bustling Charminar roads resembled war zones.

Heavy stone pelting was reported from Rethi Masjid in Reinbazar, Brahmanwadi in Yakutpura and Syed Ali Chabutra. A woman was among five persons injured in stone pelting.

Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma said 40 persons were detained . “We will examine footage of the surveillance cameras installed at different places to identify the accused involved in the arson and property damage cases,” he told reporters. He said six police vehicles were also damaged at Madina junction, Gulzar Houz, Khilwat and Itebar Chowk.

Over the past 10 days, vehicles have been burnt, people have been attacked, and shops in this busy hub have been shutdown. The Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM), the political party that is at the forefront of the protest, has withdrawn its support to Congress both in the State and at the Centre over this issue.

These are just the tip of  the iceberg….stated by  one Print Media outlet. The ground reality is even worse and we know how peaceful these certain ppl arr…wont let go a chance to create trouble.

Owaisi has been caught on record spreading hatred and anti nationaland Hindu stuff, yet impotent men in charge dont take any action against him and his bunch of goons.#Shame
